Golf International Forum held in Boao, Hainan, Meaningful Course Rating

Mr.Wang Jun, the advocator of the International Golf Forum

On May 14 and 15, 2009, 2009 International Golf Forum and Course Rating was held in Boao, Hainan. More than 250 experts, VIPs and varsity staff and students attended the forum from all over China.

International Golf Forum was established in 2007 as initiated by Mr. Wang Jun, who is the Vice President of China Golf Association, Chairman of China Professional Players' Association, Honorary President of Asian Tour, Board Chairman of Forward Management Group. Three sessions have been held by now. The subject of this session of the forum is "course rating".

Mr. Wang Jun gave a speech on the subject of the forum. He pointed out that China has more and more golf courses with a great deal of good ones emerge. Course rating is also gradually developed. The US has half of the world's golf courses with perfect rating systems. We invited senior golf media editors, course designers and architects from the US for this forum. Besides, we also invited domestic experts and scholars to participate in this forum. We believe this forum will have far-reaching influence on the establishment of rating standards and methodology of golf course.

The establishment of the International Golf Forum aims at providing an efficient interactive platform for relevant domestic industries enabling our peers to make exchanges, communications and opportunities of learning valuable foreign experiences. In the last 3 years, the forum has become a brand of far-reaching influence and public credibility in the field since its establishment. 

In 2007, the forum took "lawn management" as the subject and invited scholars from GCSAA, Appraisal Committee of U.S. National Institute of Golf Management, and domestic key universities such as Beijing Forestry University, China Agricultural University and etc. to make speeches on the spot. It became a way of delivery, sharing, exchanges and solutions for law management experiences and problems with the resources experience of well-known lawn organization and management experts in combination with the theoretical study and practical cases of these experts.

Domestic and foreign guests are making discussions on the forum.

In 2008, the forum took "Course design and construction" as the theme. Professional organizations and bodies, including the most well-known American golf course construction company, Landscapes Unlimited LLC., formed a delegation to attend the forum. Discussions were made about four topics including choice of grass seeds, design and appraisal of courses, golf courses and real estate, construction, acceptance and post maintenance. The latest course design and construction theories were stated. It served as a platform for mutual knowledge and communications for course owners, managers, designers and architects.  

In 2009, the forum took "golf course rating" as the theme to share experience and discuss latest appraisal methods and to get knowledge about the latest course rating concepts and standards. The senior editors of American authoritative course appraisal media Bradley S. Klein and Joe Passov, the famous course designer Bill Coore, and Kurt Huseman the Executive Vice President of Landscapes Unlimited LLC., the most powerful American course construction company, and Han Liebao, Professor of Beijing Forestry University, Director Wu Ming of Overseas Golf Management School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Malaysian senior management professionals and Heng Eik Kuan Assistant to General Manager of FMG made topic discussions from overall multilevel points of view on various aspects of domestic and foreign current situations, problems and tendency of course appraisal with domestic course appraisal bodies, course owners, designers, contstruction companies and managers face to face. 

"International Golf Forum", as a forum for public welfare held by FMG, will focus on the major areas of golf development and invite domestic and foreign bodies and experts to attend to find solutions for existing problems, to share experience of success, to enhance the communications and exchanges in the field and to stimulate the healthy development of domestic golf career.
